New edit: The owner actually reached out to me after reading this review and is sending me a new pair of jeans to try (a darker wash) and looking into the issue of the ripping. Customer service so far has been exemplary so I’m bumping up the stars. Fingers crossed the new jeans won’t rip. If they don’t I’ll definitely bump this back up to 5 stars.
EDIT: I originally loved these jeans but my first pair (fit a bit tight right away but loosened to a perfect fit after a little wear) blew the butt out within a year. I replaced them and that pair blew out within six months in the same place (inside back left pocket) so I thought maybe they’re just too small. I ordered one size up and that pair fit perfectly right away but as I wore them they got too big to the point I needed a belt. At this point I’ve gone through three pairs of Fran jeans all that blew out on the back pocket and two new pairs a size up which are too big. I had really high hopes for these jeans but they ended up as a disappointment. I won’t be buying anymore.
I decided to try out Fran denim as I have always had big thighs and a big booty. Now that I’m in CrossFit I get the ads for athletes clothes and saw these. My measurements were not on the chart so I went with height and weight chart like they suggested (5’3” and 150 pounds, waist is 31 and hips 43) and the 29s fit perfectly. They are super comfortable for jeans too, I can lounge around in these. I can squat and kneel without my booty sticking out which is great for a mom of toddlers. They are pricey, but I’m willing to pay that much if they fit like they claim and are made in America. Very happy with these, will definitely be getting a second pair.
