Long, loving review ahead. These were the first pair of Fran Denim jeans that I tried on, and I thought I might cry. I am 5'6" and 140lb, but quite lean for my weight. I have long legs, average to slightly thicc thighs and butt, a very small waist, and am quite short-waisted with a short upper body. The 32" inseam is perfect for my long legs, and I can even cuff them when I want that look (I've never been able to cuff jeans). The 10" rise is absolutely perfect for my waist length and shorter upper body, it hits right at my belly-button and gives me a perfect mid-to-high rise look without sitting on my ribcage and/or making me look like nothing but legs and boobs. These seem like they might be cut slightly higher in the back, so once they clear your butt the top of the pant sits level with or even a hair higher than the front of the pant instead of always being lower in the back - perfect! They also gave me zero waist gap. I mean zero. The waist fit is EXACTLY the same all the way around. I've seriously never had anything fit me so well, they feel like they were custom cut for me.
I ordered a size 27, which has been my standard jean size for a long time (Levis, Madewell, Lucky). I probably could have, maybe should have, gotten these in a 26. Could be the pant sizing, could be that I've dropped a little weight. Either way they are cut so well they still stay in place without a belt and look great.
At least on me, the "relaxed" aspect of this cut is a little more relaxed than it looks in the modeled photo. I find that especially within a couple hours of wear they are pretty loose through the hip and thigh on me, but my legs probably just aren't as jacked as the models!
Ultimately, I love love love these jeans, and will probably never buy anything other than Fran Denim now for the rest of the time that they exist.
